"I didn’t just want to import a cargo bike.
I wanted to build one that looked and felt like something I’d actually be proud to ride."
— Erkan, Founder & CEO of CARGOCYCLE and AMEC
Hi, I’m Erkan — founder, owner, and CEO of CARGOCYCLE and AMEC. I’ve been in the automotive industry for 28 years, and since 2019, I’ve operated AMEC, my own engineering services company focused on testing prototype vehicles, validating components, and supporting OEMs with advanced engineering expertise.

The idea for CARGOCYCLE started in a very real, very personal way: I imported a cargo bike from Europe because I needed a better way to move around with my kids and all our gear. But it wasn’t as simple as plug-and-play — I couldn’t even import the battery pack with it. So I sourced a compatible battery in the U.S., reworked the system, and handled the assembly myself. Between the shipping cost, the workaround, and the labor, I kept thinking: There has to be a better way.

Still, once we were riding it, we loved it. It was convenient. It changed how we did things as a family. But even more than that, people wouldn’t stop asking us, “What is that bike? Where can I get one?” That’s when the idea hit us: what if we built our own? One that looked cooler, rode better, and was built right here.

As a “car guy,” I care about things like fat tires, strong stance, clean lines, and design that just makes sense. With nearly three decades in the automotive world, we know how to build something that’s not just functional but beautifully engineered. With that mindset, CARGOCYCLE was born — a reverse trike electric cargo bike that’s designed, engineered, and assembled in the U.S. with attention to detail, component harmony, and a deep focus on quality.

We’re proud of what we’ve created — and we believe CARGOCYCLE isn’t just another cargo bike. It’s something truly different.
"My Right-Hand Guy"
My son is right in the middle of all of this — not just watching, but doing. Whether he’s helping assemble parts, filming raw behind-the-scenes clips, taking product photos, or even making music on his iPad for our videos, his creativity is everywhere. A lot of the energy you feel in our posts comes straight from him. His ideas, his perspective, his curiosity — it all adds something real to the CARGOCYCLE story. Building this together means everything to me. And I think you can feel that in every detail.

"The Heart of the Shop"
While the boys are busy making the mess, she’s the one keeping the energy light and the space clean. My daughter may not be turning wrenches, but her presence is just as important. She’s always dancing, always smiling — the moral support we didn’t know we needed, but now can’t do without. Whether she’s sweeping up the chaos in the shop or just hanging out with her music playing in the background, she brings balance, joy, and a kind of calm that reminds us this is more than a business — it’s our life together.
"The Backbone of It All"
She’s the one who keeps everything moving — the quiet force behind everything we’re building. While I’m chasing ideas, testing parts, and filming with the kids, she’s the one holding it all together. The steady hand. The calm voice. The reason we’re even able to do this as a family. Without her, none of this would exist — not the bikes, not the business, not the balance. She’s the glue that keeps the chaos running smoothly, and the heart that keeps us grounded. This isn’t just our story. It’s hers too.
